NCS Youth Team Leader

We are looking for Team Leaders aged 18+ to manage, inspire and develop a diverse group of up to 16 participants, aged between 15 and 17, through the National Citizen Service experiences for weeks in October and November.

We are looking for Team Leaders to be either, in a pastoral role to support and work alongside our other staff to motivate and mentor their group of young people across a range of activities, or to be a facilitator and deliver sessions and activities to young people.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people on 1 week residential programmes .

1. Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire and motivate participants to remain fully committed throughout the NCS programme
  • Facilitate the set curriculum and prepare additional activities as needed
  • Be a positive role model at all times providing pastoral care, guided reflection and discipline within their team of young people.
  • Supervise young people this includes coach journeys, through skills sessions and adventurous activities including evening activities on residential.
  • Ensure the participants remain safe and adhere to health and safety guidelines throughout the programme and during their social action project phase.

2. Person Specifications

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance required and satisfactory references.
  • Experience of working with young people at events or groups and providing support.
  • Ideally experience of dealing with complex, stressful and some difficult situations and the ability to remain calm and composed.
  • Must demonstrate problem solving skills and have the ability to motivate, inspire and use own initiative.
  • Empathic, sensitive and approachable nature, demonstrating tolerance and patience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and good organisational skills.

3. Beneficial

  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Experience of working with teenagers with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD and other special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of the NCS Programme.

The dates available that the Autumn residential programmes are running are –

(some weeks have pick up locations in either the East or West Midlands . )

  • 14th – 18th Oct
  • 21st – 25th Oct
  • 28th Oct – 1st Nov
  • 4th -8th Nov
